NBL1 North Recap: Round 6 - Friday June 3

The NBL1 North had a busy Friday night with six games on, featuring Logan and Brisbane as the Game of the Week!
Let's dive ino the games below.
WOMEN
Logan Thunder (75) def Brisbane Capitals (53)
The Logan Thunder stay undefeated after beating the Brisbane Capitals in a massive 22 point win. It was a team effort by Logan, four players had 14 points or more while the team grabbed 14 more rebounds and made eight more assists than the Capitals.
Brisbane's stand out was Abby Cubillo, she had 17 points, five rebounds and five steals but it wasn't enough to get through the Thunder's domintant start to the season.

Cairns Dolphins (83) def Gold Coast Rollers (67)
Coming back from her Opals duties Cayla George did not miss a step, she had 39 points, 19 rebeounds and five blocks and brought home the Dolphins the win against the Rollers. It was an outstanding two-way perforance and we would expect nothing else from the Opals legend.
Gold Coast took their first loss of the season and were in this game until George had her night. Angela Lou Beadle had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Nyah Morris and Taylor Lee both had 12 points each.

GOLD COAST 67 (Beadle 17, Morris and Lee 12)
USC Rip City (86) def Rockhampton Cyclones (62)
Also come back from her Opals duties was Maddison Rocci, who put on a show for Rip City scoring 22 points and handing out eight assists in the win. Carlie Smith add 20 points as well with 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Rockhampton's Lara McSpadden scored 21 points with the rest of the Cyclones making a solid contribution. But Rip City won the game with defence, holding the Cyclones to under 36 percent from the field and having seven more fast break points plus 10 more steals than Rockhampton.
USC 86 (Rocci 22, Smith 20 and Arlen 17)
ROCKHAMPTON 62 (McSpadden 21, Freeburn 11 and Otto 10)
MEN
Logan Thunder (93) def Brisbane Capitals (88)
Game standout was former NBL player Jeremy Kendle, who had 38 points, six three-pointers, seven rebounds and six assists. Teammate Boston Mazlin added 22 points but the game was in Brisbane's momentum for a majority.
Brisbane's Max Mackinnon and Nicholas Stoddart played at an uptempo pace while Illawarra Hawk Lachlan Dent scored 20 points in the close loss.
LOGAN 93 (Kendle 38, Mazlin 22 and Ceder 8)
BRISBANE 88 (Dent 20, Stoddart 14 and Volkman 13)
Cairns Marlins (92) def Gold Coast Rollers (87)
It was an all-round effort from the Marlins to get the win, four players got to double-digit points and the team's leading scorer James Mitchell had 23 points.
It was a battle of NBL1 stars, Ben Ayre was on fire with 17 points and five assists while Gold Coast's Jason Cadee and Tanner Krebs had 19 and 27 points respectively; Krebs finsihed with 18 rebounds while Cadee had nine assists. other than Jaze Morris' 16 points off the bench, the game was mostly close due to the two Bullets and their starpower.
CAIRNS 92 (Mitchell 23, Ayre 17 and George 15)
GOLD COAST 87 (Krebs 27, Cadee 19 and Morris 16)
USC Rip City (103) def Rockhampton Rockets (76)
In a dominant win, Rip City took down Todd Blanchfield's and Kendall Stephens' Rockets in a spectacular game of highlights.
NBL star Kouat Noi scored 31 points with 20 rebounds in under 30 minutes for USC while teammate Wani Swaka Lo Buluk scored 15 points with some NBL championship winning lockdown defence.
Blanchfield and Stephens did all they could with their NBL experience, Stephens dropping 24 points while a solid effort from Damian Prgomet of 16 points and 12 rebounds was still not enough to scratch Rip City.
USC 103 (Noi 31, Williams 16 and Swaka Lo Buluk 15)
