Southern Districts Spartans 109 def Northside Wizards 70
Southern Districts Spartans remain undefeated after a 109-79 win over Northside Wizards at Rowland Cowan Stadium.
Spartans guard Maddison Rocci scored a game-high 21 points. The Canberra Capitals star was joined in the backcourt by Madelyn Willey, who tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and four steals.
Southern Districts forwards Nadeen Payne (18 points) and Ash Karaitiana (14 points) were the Spartans other scoring threats but with a healthy margin the home went deep into its 12-player roster.
Northside also had four players in double figures with Courtney Woods (15 points), Regan McCarty (14 points), Tiana Mangakahia (13 points), and Anais Kirvan (10 points) but the visitors were not as efficient as their opponents.
Spartans hit 41 of 91 (45%) from the field compared to the Wizards 21 of 66 (31.8%).
Gold Coasts Rollers 69 def by Townsville Flames 89
Townsville Flames handed Gold Coast Rollers their first loss of the season with an 89-69 victory at Carrara Stadium.
The Flames used a dominant 26-6 second quarter, including a 14-0 run straight after the short break, to set up the win.
Townsville star Stephanie Reid (pictured) scored a game-high 37 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. The sharp-shooting guard hit 13 of 19 field goals including 5 of 8 from the perimeter.
Flames forward Mia Murray (21 points) and guard Micaela Cocks (16 points including 4 of 4 three-pointers made) provided the additional offensive firepower for Townsville.
Rollers forward Casey Samuels top scored for the home side with 25 points and eight rebounds. Lauren Mansfield (17 points), Aimee Durbidge (11 points), and Lilly Rotunno (11 points) also tallied double figures for Gold Coast.
Sunshine Coast Phoenix 111 def Rockhampton Cyclones 52
Sunshine Coast Phoenix delivered another heavy loss to the Rockhampton Cyclones with a 111-52 win at Maroochydore Stadium.
Sunshine Coast’s Kathleen MacLeod dropped 41 points with 15 of 29 =field goals made and 8 of 9 free throws. The Phoenix guard also stuffed the stat sheet with 10 rebounds and eight steals.
Rachael McCully joined her Phoenix backcourt partner with a 13 points and 14 assists double-double, while Amy Browne chimed in with 23 points and Bianca Abbott added 10 points.
The depleted Cyclones, who could only dress seven for their third leg of Round 4, put in a brave effort with centre Lara McSpadden achieving another double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
The 4-1 Phoenix have a bye next round and will travel to Ipswich in Round 6, while the Cyclones are looking for their first win of the season with a home game against Gold Coast.
