Rockhampton Cyclones 56 def by South West Metro Pirates 91
South West Metro Pirates picked up a road-trip 91-56 win over Rockhampton at Bravus Arena on Friday night.
South West Metro centre Amanda Johnson tallied a double with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead to third win.
The Pirates also had strong contributions from Kayla Kiriau (14 points), Steph Bairstow (13 points), and Isabelle Parker (12 points).
Cyclones centre Lara McSpadden tallied a 17 points and 15 rebounds double double for the home side, while Akaysha Muggeridge scored 13 points and Tori Rouse added 11 points.
The Cyclones (0-8) will hit the road again for back-to-back games at Northside (Friday) and Brisbane (Saturday) in Round 7, while the Pirates (3-3) await Wizards on Saturday night.
Logan Thunder 86 def Brisbane Capitals 57
Logan Thunder continued their undefeated run in the NBL1 North with an 86-57 victory over Brisbane Capitals at Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre on Friday night.
Logan centre Mikaela Ruef scored 25 points to help Thunder move to a 7-0 win-loss record.
The Thunder go on the road to Gold Coast in Round 7 while the Capitals (3-4) take on the Cyclones.
Ipswich Force 70 def by Sunshine Coast Phoenix 72
The Sunshine Coast Phoenix have clinched a come-from-behind 72-70 win over Ipswich Force at JBS Stadium on Friday night.
Down by 20 points with 4.21 left in the third quarter, the Phoenix started to claw back slowly but surely. In the final quarter, Sunshine Coast centre Bianca Abbott made two free throws at the 2.38 mark to give Phoenix a one-point lead (68-67) – their first lead since the opening minutes. Abbott, would then seal the win with two more free throws made in the final minute.
Phoenix guard Kathleen MacLeod top scored for Sunshine Coast with 16 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds.
Force guard Georgia Ralph scored a game-high 24 points, including 6 of 11 shooting from deep.
Townsville Flames 75 def USC Rip City 53
Townsville guard Micaela Cocks led the Flames to a 75-53 victory over USC Rip City at Townsville StarFM Stadium on Friday night.
Cocks, a Tall Fern who plays for the Townsville Fire in the WNBL, scored a game-high 25 points with 8 of 12 from the field, including 5 of 9 from beyond the arc.
Cocks was joined in the backcourt by Stephanie Reid, who contributed 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
The Flames more efficient scoring, including 13 of 38 three-pointers made (34.2%), proved a major factor in the home win.
Rip City forward Carlie Smith tallied a 17 points and 10 rebounds double-double, while guard Jasmine Forcadilla added 11 points with 3 of 9 shots made from deep.
